Waterwegen

By Barbara Grosse-Hering

A ‘Waterwegen’ plate is completely manufactured according to classic old Dutch techniques at ‘Royal Blue’ in Delft. Designer Barbara Grosse-Hering gives the historic canals of Delft a face lift. Barbara combined the distinctive patterns of these waterways with the tradition of Delft Blue pottery in her series of decorative plates. The ‘Waterways’ series was designed for the ‘Delft Tableware Design Competition 2011’, in which it was a nominee.

Later the ‘Waterwegen’ plates of our Capital (Amsterdam) and our Domcity (Utrecht) have gone in production this way. Utrecht’s plate has a special story with it. For a long time the historic ‘Singel’, that used to enclose the centre of Utrecht, has been partly dry. Since September 2020 the ‘Singel’ is fully connected again.

These Limited Edition plates are shipped with an ingenious hanging system and enrich the wall with Dutch history.
