IDE Academy X BlueDot

Bluedot was once founded to share a unique learning experience with the students. We want to give them the opportunity to really develop a concept into a market ready product but also show them what this development of a product is like in the real world outside the walls of the faculty. Because we want to reach more students with this learning experience than just the students that actually develop a product their idea with us, we started offering parts of it in shortened activities.

"We do not just want to give some scholar learning steps on how to do something, we want the day to be inspirational by showing real life situations that make the students think."

One of these activities is the IDE Academy for the Industrial Design master students. IDE academies are about diving into a topic related to design for a whole day. BlueDot offers 2 of these every year focusing on two main aspects of BlueDot itself, marketing and production. The exact theme of these workshops changes every time, however we focus on establishing a workshop that has a really strong connection to the real world. We do not just want to give some scholar learning steps on how to do something, we want the day to be inspirational by showing real life situations that make the students think.

The last IDE academy we organized was about brand identity, how can you brand a product from ‘just a product’ to a successful one. To make it based on the real outside world we invited two interesting guest speakers to tell about their experience with brand identity within their company. The first guest speakers where from the company SECRID who came to tell about the shift they were making with SECRID in going from a famous product to a famous brand. The second guest speaker was from the company Heineken and told an interesting story about how Heineken kept their strong core brand identity over the years but still keeps improving on this. In the afternoon the students could use the inspiration they got from these story’s by implementing it on one of BlueDot’s own soon to be launched products. This way the students could work on a real life project they could actually still have influence on.

We plan to offer way more interesting IDE academy’s so if you are a student or a company with a really nice idea about this you can always contact us on our e-mail info@stichingbluedot.nl

New IDE academies are coming up, so stay tuned!
